Server Colocation

Rack Space

Rapid Pipe utilizes 19″ racks. The cost of rack space is based on the vertical height of your equipment and charged per rack unit, which is approximately 45mm in height. A single rack normally contains between 40 and 47 rack units.

Our colocation services allow you to purchase as little as a single rack unit (1U) on a shared rack or we can accommodate your own private racks. We can also provide private locked cages or suites if available.

For shared rack colocation we provide the rack space, power, and an Ethernet handoff from our network switch. For a dedicated rack you provide the rack and we provide the power and bandwidth.

If you do not have rack-mountable server equipment, we can have shelving available for standalone computers.

Bandwidth

All networking is provisioned using 100Mbps Ethernet connections. When choosing your bandwidth plan there are two considerations:

· Speed – The maximum transfer speed which can be 1.5mb/s, 5mb/s, 15mb/s or unrestricted.

· Data Transfers – The total amount of data transferred during the month, which can be 10GB, 50GB, 250GB, or unmetered

By separating these two we are able to provide you with the best performance for your needs at the best possible price.

Data pricing is based on inbound data only. There are no charges on outbound data provided that the ratio of outbound to inbound is not excessive (must be less than 10:1).

All data plans have burst rates equal to double the normal data rates.

Network and Security

All colocation customers receive a single 100Mbps Ethernet connection to a switch port on our backbone.

To protect your systems and to provide an overall secure environment, all traffic to your servers passes through our core firewall. Our network engineers will work with you free of charge to build a firewall policy customized for your environment. We will also provide load balancing, VLANs, or NAT with no extra charge.

Because security is one of our highest priorities, we monitor all traffic with an intrusion detection system (IDS). If necessary, we can provide you with customized intrusion detection and monitoring services at an extra charge.

VPN End point

Rapid Pipe can facilitate a VPN connection between your primary work site and colocation equipment using standards based protocols (IPSec and L2TP supported).

Server Monitoring

Monitoring of your server and services can be provided via pager, SMS, and email notifications. Additional monitoring of specific SNMP or WMI counters can also be provided.

Remote reboot

If your server crashes or hangs at any time you can have us reset it within business hours at no charge or after hours for a small after-hours fee. We also can provide remote power access, at an additional charge, that allows you to remotely cycle the power of your devices.

Redundant network handoff

A second network connection can be provided, which in combination with a second network card, will ensure your machine stays online in the event of cabling fault or port failure in the switch you are connected to.

Network backup service

We can provide network backup over a secure Ethernet segment to ensure your servers are backed up daily. This service provides daily backups without the extra cost and management of tape backup devices.

After hours access

We staff the data center during business hours for server access. If needed, we can provide you with secure 24/7/365 access to the data center.
